Listen to Thomas Woodward Davis on Bandcamp

Thomas Woodward Davis is an electronic jazz pianist based in Brooklyn, NY. His work explores ambient and IDM music through a lens of modern jazz, weaving intricate beat-making and improvised piano into rich soundscapes — a sound rooted equally in the textured traditions of electronic composition and the expressive spontaneity of improvised music. Thomas’ sound is deeply familiar yet altogether new, and has been described by Hankus Netsky as “music for a cocktail bar at the end of the universe.”

An award winning and published composer, Thomas studied piano with Ran Blake at the New England Conservatory of Music before moving to Brooklyn in 2020. Notable performances include accompanying Earth Wind and Fire with Nedelka Prescod’s Gospel Choir, being chosen to perform an original composition at Leonard Bernstein’s 2019 Centennial Celebration, and his 2024 interactive sound installation/performance at Public Records, NYC. Thomas has set the stage and opened for other electronic improvisers in his field like Mary Lattimore and Currency Audio. In 2023 he was selected to premiere original music for the ?!:New Works festival at The Brick Theater in Williamsburg, NYC. In 2024 he produced and released his third album Strange Loops.

Thomas currently hosts a monthly electronic music open session (Sync & Sequence) at the Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg (see calendar for dates.)
